Flooded finished basement in Northcenter.
This home in the Northcenter neighborhood located on Claremont Avenue had a water loss due to malfunctioning sump pump. It is a fully livable finished basement where the family had a large play room, gym, office, guest bedroom, bathroom and laundry along with the utility closet. The carpeting was slushy when walked on and that was how the homeowner realized that there was a problem. All items on the floor had to be moved out of the rooms to a dry area that wasn’t affected. The carpeting was lifted, padding removed and the air movers put under the carpet to “float” it for drying. The homeowner wanted to keep the carpeting and therefore signed a liability form. When the carpeting and drywall was dry, which took three days, we picked up the equipment, straightened the carpet and vacuumed it clean. The homeowner called his carpet installer, who came in and installed new padding and stretch the carpet back into the tack strips.
