Water Damage from a Storm in a Sauganash Residence in Chicago, IL

Sauganash neighborhood residence experienced flooding in their finished basement during an April storm event. Luckily it was mostly tiled flooring. The excess water was extracted using portable extractors. Flooring was cleaned and disinfected and so were the furnishings/items that were in the water. Personal items and furnishings where staged out of the way and protected with plastic. The wet baseboards were removed and disposed of as they were mdf (medium density fiberboard) and could not be saved. The drywall was cut two feet up following the perimeter of the space. Wet insulation was also removed as it does not longer serve a purpose after it has been wet. Drying equipment was set up to dry the sill plates and two by fours. The homeowner was very happy that the home sustained very little damage.
