Water damage from April storm in Albany Park Neighborhood
This is a story of a sump pump that just couldn’t keep up with the April storm showers that plundered the Albany Park Neighborhood. The family, like many in the Chicagoland area, used their basement as living space and it was finished with carpeting in some areas, while some parts had tiled flooring. Unfortunately there was so much standing water that it not only affected the flooring but the walls as well. Since it stopped raining it was safe to pump the water out of the basement onto the street. After that, the contents had to be moved from one side while we worked on removing wet flooring (carpet and pad) and flood-cutting the drywall and then moved to the other side. Floors where cleaned with a disinfectant, contents covered with plastic and finally the equipment was set up.
